These terms govern your use of Last First Draft, the creative writing application at lastfirstdraft.com. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
Your account
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure — you are responsible for activity that happens under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (and at least 13 years old) to use the service.
Subscriptions and billing
Last First Draft is a paid subscription. Payments are processed by Stripe, acting as the merchant of record — your purchase is from Stripe, and Stripe's payment terms and refund handling apply to the transaction. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel any time from the Account page, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If your subscription lapses, your account becomes read-only so you can still access and export your writing.
Your content
Everything you write in Last First Draft is yours. You retain all rights to your drafts and notes. You grant us only the limited license needed to operate the service — storing your content, displaying it back to you, and processing it through the features you use (such as AI-assisted suggestions). We claim no ownership of your work and will not publish or share it.
AI features
Some features generate editing suggestions using an AI model. Suggestions are exactly that — suggestions. You decide what to accept, and you are responsible for the final text you produce. We don't guarantee that suggestions are accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
Acceptable use
- Don't attempt to break, overload, or probe the service.
- Don't use the service to violate the law or others' rights.
- Don't resell access to the service or share one account among many people.
- Don't abuse support channels or the contact form.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Availability
We work to keep the service reliable, but it is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Last First Draft runs in the browser and requires a connection to write; if you go offline, the editor becomes read-only so no work is lost. We recommend exporting important work regularly.
Account deletion
You can delete your account from the Account page. Deletion is scheduled with a 30-day window during which you can cancel it; after the window your account and content are permanently removed. See the Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Last First Draft is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. If we make material changes we will update this page and the date above. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
